Why does miller maxstar 161 arc flicker?

  why’s my Miller Maxstar 161 arc flickering on tig with 3/32-inch tungsten and 15 CFH argon? it’s driving me nuts, any ideas?

  Flickering’s from bad tungsten, regrind 3/32-inch to a point, use 2% lanthanated on your Miller Maxstar 161.

  Check gas flow on your Miller Maxstar 161, low argon causes flicker, set to 20 CFH, clean metal with alcohol.

  Your Miller Maxstar 161 needs a good ground, tighten the clamp, use 130 amps for better arc stability.

  Contaminated tungsten might be the issue, use dedicated 3/32-inch tungsten, set Miller Maxstar to 120 amps.
