Lifting Lug Welds Look Weak

        My lifting lug welds look rough using 2-inch plate with stick welding, need stronger welds. Can you give me a solution to this?

          Weak welds needs better prep. Bevel edges to 5/8-inch, use 7018 rod at 150 amps, my lugs lifted 5000 lbs. Clean with alcohol, test with dye.

            Use a Fronius SyncroPulse, it is got a smoother arc.

              Increase rod size to 1/8-inch, it strengthens welds.

                Check polarity, DCEP works best.
