I’m a little bit confused cause my Hobart Handler 190 can’t weld 1/4-inch steel, Using 0.035-inch wire at 22V, and welds don’t penetrate. any settings to fix this?

Thick steel needs higher voltage, Set Handler 190 to 24V, Use 7018 electrode for better penetration, My Hobart struggled too, Clean steel with acetone, set wire speed to 250 ipm, and use 25 CFH argon.

Try 0.045-inch wire, it is better for thick steel.

poor penetration means low amps, Increase to 180 amps, My Hobart welds thick steel now.

Bevel edges for better welds, it helps with penetration.

Check the ground clamp, loose ones reduces penetration.
