This is driving me nuts cause my Esab Rebel 235 can’t weld 1/4-inch steel, Using 0.035-inch wire at 22V, and welds lacks depth. any settings?

Try larger wire, it is better for thick steel.

Thick steel needs higher voltage for penetration, Set Rebel 235 to 24V for better results, Use 7018 electrode for deeper welds, My Esab struggled with thick steel too, Clean with acetone, Set wire speed to 250 ipm, Use 25 CFH argon, Bevel edges.

poor depth means low amps on steel, Increase to 180 amps for stronger welds, My Esab welds thick steel now, Check ground clamp condition.

Bevel joint edges, it improves penetration strength.
